BIRMINGHAM: If the results of the recent German Open are anything to go by, Malaysia will once again rely on world No.1 Lee Chong Wei for the All-England which starts on Tuesday.
In Germany, Malaysia’s best bet for a win, world No. 8 Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong failed to live up to their own high standards as they were sent packing in the semi-finals by Japan’s Takeshi Kamura-Keigo Sonoda.
Malaysian Open champions Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah were also a letdown, crashing out in the quarter-finals to Japanese Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa.

German Open: Thien How-Wee Kiong sent packing (pic)
PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong are out of the German Open, after losing to Japan's Takeshi Kamura-Keigo Sonoda in the semi-finals.
The world No. 8 pair lost in straight games 19-21, 14-21.
The first game was a tightly-contested one with the score tied at 19-19 at one point but the national pair lost the next two points to concede the game.
In the second game, the Japanese pair did not lift their foot off the pedal and wrapped up the match in just 33 minutes.
