Former world junior champion Mak Hee Chun who was dropped from Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in 2012, teamed with Tan Bin Shen who left the national team in 2010, as they defied all odds to triumph over top seeds Lim Khim Wah-Ow Yao Han in the men’s doubles final of Sabah Open on Sunday. Sabah Open: Mak Hee Chun-Tan Bin Shen continues upset streak

Kuala Lumpur: After knocking second seeds Low Juan Shen-Ong Yew Sin out of the tournament on Friday, the unseeded Mak Hee Chun-Tan Bin Shen reached the finals at Sabah Open on Saturday with another shock upset over fourth seeds Tan Wee Gieen-Teo Ee Yi winning 21-12,15-21,22-20 in 52 minutes. Goh Soon Huat, Iskandar, Mak Hee Chun-Tan Bin Shen at Sabah Open semis

Kuala Lumpur: Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) shuttler Goh Soon Huat remained on course to qualify for the semi-finals at the Sabah Open after a straight sets win over Chong Yee Han 21-13, 21-17 on Friday. Another BAM shuttler Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin also booked his place in the semi-finals when the seventh seed defeated Lim Chi Wing 21-12, 13-21, 21-14 in a hard fought battle that lasted 46 minutes.    Young guys like Mak Hee Chun (left) and Tan Bin Shen deserve a second chance if they could outperform their peers from BAM
