Morten perfect role model for budding shuttlers
Bangalore, Oct 14. (PTI): Two of India's famed shuttlers Prakash Padukone and Vimal Kumar believe that Morten Frost Hansen, the game's richest player ever, is a perfect role model for those aspiring to make it big in world badminton.
The way the legendary Morten went about earning name, fame and money was amazing, said the Indian duo as the four-time All England champion visits the Karnataka Badminton Association here to conduct a three-day clinic for coaches.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysias young mens doubles pair of Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong pulled off the biggest upset of the day at the US,000 Japan Open when they stunned two-time All-England champions Jens Eriksen-Martin Lundgaard Hansen of Denmark to march into the semi-finals at the National Yoyogi Gymnasium in Tokyo yesterday.
Top mens singles shuttler Lee Chong Wei also qualified for semi-finals by beating Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand.

China strike four golds at world championships (pic)
China completed a brilliantly successful world championships in Madrid this week by sweeping to victory in three of yesterday's four finals.
The powerhouse of world badminton had already notched a gold in the women's doubles on Saturday and they added triumphs in the men's and women's singles and the men's doubles on the final day.
Of a total 20 medals at stake, China won 10, including golds in four of the five events.

Chinese Dominate World Badminton Championship

Madrid, Spain (AHN) – China left the World Badminton Championship in Madrid with four of the five titles, proving once again the country's dominance in the sport.
China's men's doubles team composed of Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun bested their English rivals, Anthony Clark and Robert Blair in the finals, 21-9 and 21-13.

WORLD number one Lee Chong Wei crashed out of the World Championships when he fell 20-22, 21-12,18-21 to Chinas Bao Chunlai in a dramatic quarter-final match yesterday.
Malaysias challenge in the mens singles also came to an end yesterday when Mohd Hafiz Hashim fell to another Chinese, second seed Lin Dan 21-10, 21-9.

Top seed Lee crashes out
Madrid, Sep 23 (Xinhua) World No. 1 shuttler Lee Chongwei of Malaysia lost to Chinese Bao Chunlai in the mens singles quarterfinals of the World Championships here.
The 23-year-old player saved one match point before going down 20-22, 21-12, 18-21 to Bao Friday. The Chinese had never beaten Chongwei in their previous six encounters.

China won gold in the women's doubles Saturday at the world badminton championships.
In an all-China final, top-seeded Gao Ling and Huang Sui clinched the country's sixth successive women's doubles title when they beat ninth-seeded Zhang Yawen and Wei Yili 23-21, 21-9. China also took both bronze medals.
In the men's singles, China's Bao Chunlai beat Lee Hyun-ll of South Korea 21-15, 21-19 in the opening semifinal.

Lin Dan beat Chen Hong reach all-Chinese final
Second seed Lin Dan beat Chinese teammate, sixth seed Chen Hong 15-21, 21-19, 21-14 on Saturday to reach the all-Chinese men's singles final of the World Badminton Championships.
In the final, the 22-year-old Lin will meet the seventh seed Bao Chunlai, who beat gritty Lee Hyun Ii of South Korea 21-15, 21-19 in the other semifinal.
