Lin Dan & Victor Axelsen the latest to withdraw from French Open

Paris: After the World No. 1 men’s pair Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo was forced to withdraw from the 2017 French Open due to right shoulder injury suffered by Marcus Fernaldi Gideon in last week’s Denmark Open semi-finals, Lin Dan, Viktor Axelsen, Sun Yu and Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen were among the big names to pull out from the French Open which started on October 24th.

In men’s singles, former world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei and Olympic champion Chen Long are braced for an enthralling encounter in the men’s singles semi-finals of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo’s withdrawal has benefited Tan Qiang/He Jiting of China. The Chinese pair was able to start their campaigns directly in the first round of main draw.

For women’s doubles competition, Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark still bothered by the injury she suffered at last week’s Denmark Open tournament, therefore, her partner Christinna Pedersen would only participate in mixed doubles with Mathias Christiansen.
