Sydney: Lin Dan has attracted a lot of media attentions since his arrival in Sydney to compete at the Star Australian Badminton Open 2014.Lin Dan is the first Asian face for Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana

The tattooed 30-year-old badminton super star was the second richest athlete in China last year. Through a combination of prizes won and lucrative endorsement deals, Lin Dan has amassed an estimated net worth of close to $20 Million.

 

“He is a crazy guy. He is the Roger Federer of badminton. He is a legend,” said Michael Chen, 30, who regards himself as one of Lin’s biggest fans and has taken the week off work to volunteer at the six-day tournament.

This is Lin Dan’s first visit to Australia.

“I want to enjoy my stay in Sydney, eat some great seafood, take photos, relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery here,” said the Dolce & Gabbana model.

“I hope my presence at the Australian Open would help promote the sports of badminton in Australia.”
