Lee Chong Wei leads Malaysia into SEA Games semi-final

Singapore: Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei needed just 13 minutes on court on Wednesday to blast past his opponent at the SEA Games men’s team event. Lee took care of Cambodia’s Cheng Phor Phom 21-10, 21-5 in just 13 minutes to bring Malaysia to a 3-0 team win.Lee Chong Wei always very calm on the badminton court.

 

Chong Wei Feng who played the first singles, claimed the first point by beating Chanmara Tep 21-7, 21-11. Lee Chong Wei then nailed the second point easily, while men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong secured the winning point with a 21-8, 21-11 straight sets victory over Teav Yong Vannak/Nguon Kanora.

Lee Chong Wei who hasn’t played the SEA Games in 10 years told reporters that this was probably his last SEA Games.

“I think this is my last SEA Games, and I am going to enjoy every moment of it,” said Lee.

Lee think the tie against Cambodia could serve as a “warm up” game prior to the intense semi-finals tie against Indonesia on Thursday.

“It definitely helps to come out and play and to get use to the feeling of the court before tomorrow’s tie against Indonesia,” added Chong Wei
