Singapore: Malaysia is guaranteed 2 gold medals in the men’s singles, women’s doubles at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore, because all participants in the finals hail from Malaysia.
Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying also secured at least the silver medal after clinching a berth in the final of mixed doubles event at the SEA Games.
In the women’s doubles semi-finals, Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei, Amelia Alicia Anscelly/Soong Fie Cho advanced on Monday to set up an all-Malaysian final at the SEA Games.
Defending champions Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei swept past Anggia Shitta Awanda/Mahadewi Istirani Ni Ketut of Indonesia in the women’s doubles semi-finals 21-12, 21-11, while Amelia Alicia Anscelly/Soong Fie Cho faced tougher resistance from Suci Rizky Andini/Maretha Dea Giovani of Indonesia before Amelia Alicia Anscelly/Soong Fie Cho eventually prevailed 21-16, 23-21.

Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying overcame a stern test from Indonesian Ricky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili 21-18, 18-21, 22-20 in the semi-finals before reaching the final in dramatic fashion. Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying will take on another Indonesia pair Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto in the final on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 15-year-old Goh Jin Wei saw her attempt to make it to the women’s singles final went up in smoke after losing to Hanna Ramadini from Indonesia 21-16, 12-21, 18-21. Despite the loss, it was a good sign to see this young player that’s developing and going through the process and establishing herself as a good female badminton player.
