Singapore: Two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan was dumped out by the veteran from Indonesia Sony Dwi Kuncoro on a day when men’s doubles and mixed doubles No. 1 seeds were also sent packing at the Singapore Open semi-finals.
The Chinese badminton superstar Lin Dan looked sluggish in the opening game as Kuncoro crossed the finish line with a 21-10 easy win.
Lin Dan fought back while trailing 9-10 to win the second set 21-17 and forced a decider.

Singapore: World No. 1 men’s singles shuttler Chen Long of China was sent packing by Hong Kong’s Angus Ng Ka Long on Friday.
Chen’s hope of capturing his first ever Singapore Open title fizzled out as he sank to a 14-21, 18-21 defeat against the World No. 14 Angus Ng. In their previous encounter, Ng lost to Chen at the 2013 Badminton Asia Championships.

Singapore: Two time Olympic champion Lin Dan of China was near flawless as he marched into the quarter-finals of the Singapore Open on Thursday with a straight-sets victory over Indonesia’s Christie Jonatan.
The 19-year-old Jonatan offered little resistance to Lin, went down to the Chinese badminton superstar 13-21 in the first set.
Lin looked untroubled when he concluded his straight-set victory by winning his second set 21-7. The No. 2 seed Lin Dan will take on No. 8 seed Indonesian Tommy Sugiarto on Friday.

Singapore: Malaysia had a dismal performance in the Singapore Open qualifying on Tuesday, until Malaysia’s former world junior champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli lit it up by defeating R. M. V. Gurusaidutt of India 21-14, 16-21, 21-17 before facing his brother in the second qualifying round.
The 23-year-old Zulfadli needed only 22 minutes to see off his brother Zulhelmi 21-14, 21-11 to advance to the main draw. Zulfadli will play last week’s Malaysia Open semi-finalist Christie Jonatan on Wednesday.
