PETALING JAYA: S. Kisona is the only Malaysian shuttler left standing in the individual event of the Asian Junior Championships in Taiwan.
On a day the other national shuttlers fell like tenpins, Kisona stormed her way into the girls’ singles quarter-finals.
She began the day with a gutsy performance, beating China’s Wang Xinyuan 21-13, 20-22, 21-14 in a tough 52-minute second round match.
In the third round, Kisona downed India’s Gadde Ruthvika Shivani 21-11, 22-20 to set up a quarter-final clash against second-seeded Busanan Ongbumrungpan of Thailand. 
Lee Ying Ying was the only other national girls’ singles shuttler to make it past the second round. She beat Chang Yu-chen of Taiwan 21-16, 21-14 in the second round but lost to Qin Jinjing of China 21-8, 21-6 in the third round.
