Odense: World No.2 badminton player Chen Long won the fourth gold medal for China at the men’s singles final of Yonex Denmark Open on Sunday.
Chen defeated Son Wan Ho of South Korea in two straight sets 21-17, 22-20.

Odense: Denmark’s top men’s singles Jan Jorgensen lost his quarter-final to Parupalli Kashyap on Friday.
Having won four of their previous five meetings, Jorgensen would have been confident going into the quarter-final clash against Kashyap in Odense. However, Jorgensen seemed a little rusty and often make unforced errors, allowing unheralded Kashyap to progress 21-19 21-15 in 42 minutes. Kashyap will face Chen Long of China in the semi-final. Chen managed to swept past Frenchman Brice Leverdez 21-9 21-7 in 37 minutes.

Odense: Chinese pair Li Xuerui and Wang Shixian remained on a collision course for the BWF Denmark Open final, after second-round wins on Thursday.
Li, top seed in the women’s singles at the Badminton World Federation tournament in Odense, eased past Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi 21-14 21-12 in 33 minutes.

Odense: Badminton superstar Lin Dan survived a scare on Wednesday as he opened his bid for the Denmark Open title.
Lin Dan held an early lead 7-2 in the first set of his opening match against Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan, and cruised to 11-8 lead at the interval. He was a little “too laid-back” after the interval to allow Chou to break back and levelled the score at 16-16. Chou then managed to save three game points and force deuce before Lin Dan won the first set with 22-20.

Odense: The Yonex Denmark Open Super Series Premier badminton tournament kicked off on Tuesday at the Sports Park in Odense, central Denmark. World number one Lee Chong Wei has withdrawn from the tournament as he seeks to recover from a hectic schedule. Japan’s world number four Kenichi Tago has also pulled out due to injury.
