In addition to their consistently top results in mixed doubles, the pair reached another milestone as they’ve earned 102,935 ranking points in the latest BWF rankings released on Thursday, 20,223 points more than Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia who were ranked world No. 2. Xu Chen/Ma Jin, Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin, and Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen occupied the No.3, No. 4 and No. 5 place in mixed doubles respectively.

Jakarta: After Indonesia’s defending mixed doubles pair, Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir, withdrew from the 2014 World Championships few weeks ago due to Ahmad’s ankle injury, Indonesia have suffered yet another major blow to its World Championships roster when they announced on Tuesday that Simon Santoso and defending men’s doubles world champion Hendra Setiawan/ Mohammad Ahsan have also pulled out from the world meet that will take place in Copenhagen, from August 25 to August 31.

Tontowi Ahmad ties the knot
Jakarta: Indonesia’s top mixed-doubles badminton player, Tontowi Ahmad, married his girlfriend, Michelle Harminc, in Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta on Saturday. The couple, who has been dating for two and a half year, has previously held an engagement party on May 25, 2014.
The 27-year-old shuttler, who won the 2013 World Championships mixed-doubles title with Liliyana Natsir, recently withdrew from the 2014 World Championships due to a leg injury sustained during the 2014 Australian Open in June.

Nielsen-Pedersen hoping for better luck this time (pic)
BIRMINGHAM: World No. 4 mixed doubles pair Joachim Fischer Nielsen-Christinna Pedersen of Denmark are the in-form pair right now.
They won the Superseries Finals in Kuala Lumpur last year before returning to Malaysia in January, where they made the final of the Malaysian Open – losing to China’s Xu Chen-Ma Jin.
Nevertheless, Nielsen-Pedersen have consistently beaten the top Chinese pairs and Indonesia’s reigning world champions Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir.
But the All-England is one tournament where the Danes have generally never done well – losing in the first round last year and only making the quarter-finals in 2011 and 2012.
