Germany: The freshly reunited Malaysian mixed doubles partners Tan Aik Quan/Lai Pei Jing gave their off-and-on partnership a boost on Wednesday when they recovered from a slow start in the first set (by rescuing two set points) to battle past fifth seeds Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam of Thailand 25-23, 21-19 in 47 minutes. Tan/Lai will play Sam Magee/Chloe Magee of Ireland on Friday.

Kuala Lumpur: After winning his back-to-back India Open Superseries titles in 2013 and 2014, Lee Chong Wei was not eligible to defend his title at the 2015 India Open that will be held in New Delhi from March 24th till March 29th, due to a pending hearing by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Lucknow: In an action-packed final day of Syed Modi India Masters, 27-year-old Amelia Alicia Anscelly and 26-year-old Soong Fie Cho of Malaysia upset compatriot top seeds Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei 22-20, 21-15 to win their first title since the 2013,2014 Iran International Challenge.
“We’ve played together for 3 years, and this is the biggest title we’ve won so far. We hope we can keep playing well to qualify for the 2016 Olympics,” said Amelia.

Macau: Despite a persistent cough, former world junior champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli managed to scrap through with victory in the men’s singles second round of Macau Open beating Taiwan’s Wan Chia-hsin 21-11, 5-21, 21-12 in 42 minutes. Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei win most outstanding athletes for 2013-14
Putrajaya: National women’s badminton doubles pair Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei were honoured as the Education Ministry’s (KPM) most outstanding athletes for 2013-2014 yesterday.
Vivian and Woon, each received RM27,000 for their effort in delivering a gold medal at the Myanmar SEA Games in 2013, two gold medals in the doubles and team events at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland as well as a bronze medal in the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
