Tokyo: Lin Dan of China has once again proved his reputation as “Super Dan” after he earned a hard fought three-set battle against 21-year-old Viktor Axelsen in the Japan Open final on Sunday.
Lin Dan got off to a slow start in the first set in which he trailed 3-8 against Viktor Axelsen at one point. Lin then overcame some sloppy errors to eventually win the first set 21-19.

Tokyo: Viktor Axelsen advanced to the final of Japan Open Superseries on Saturday after he defeated No. 6 seed Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan 21-19, 21-13 in 42 minutes.
The Japan Open final is also Axelsen’s fourth career Superseries final.

Jakarta: Defending champion Chen Long heads into next week’s badminton world championships in Indonesia as firm favourite, but faces a challenge from a gutsy Datuk Lee Chong Wei who has come back strong after a recent doping ban.
Chen, 26, is in superb form having swept four titles this year and enters the Jakarta tournament a convincing top seed, with Danish star Jan O Jorgensen a distant second.

Sydney: As expected, world No. 1 Chen Long advanced to the final of Australian Open by defeating compatriot Tian Houwei 21-14, 21-19 in the men’s singles semi-finals on Saturday. Chen Long was tested at the beginning of first set when he was trailing 2-8. Chen recomposed himself and started to find his rhythm to level the score at 8-8. He then managed to climb his way back to clinch the first set with 21-14. Chen Long has pretty much dominated the second set, saw off a tough fight from fellow teammate Tian Houwei 21-19 to book his place in the final.

Sydney: Just before midnight at Sydney, the world #9 Viktor Axelsen won over the defending champion Lin Dan of China. The 6′ 5″ Dane proved too tall an order for Lin today. The height differential became a determining factor as soon as the Chinese found cause to worry which happened right after the final change of ends in the deciding game.
