Pei Jing ready to step out of the shadow of Liu Ying

Glasgow: The days of living in the shadow of being compared to Goh Liu Ying are about to end for Lai Pei Jing.
The 22-year-old had been associated with Goh Liu Ying since she started partnering Chan Peng Soon. Chan Peng Soon’s longtime partner, Goh Liu Ying has decided to undergo a career saving knee surgery on May 20th this year.Team Malaysia lines up for group shot in KLIA before departing for Glasgow. And while Pei Jing’s talent was evident from the start – she and Peng Soon are the reigning Malaysia champion – their partnership has been shaky and has yet to win any international title this year.The Malaysia team have arrived safely in Glasgow

“Ever since I started playing with Peng Soon, I’ve pushed myself mentally and physically to excel in the game. However, I realized those efforts has instead brought us to the opposite directions,” said the puzzled Pei Jing.
“Peng Soon and I have grown a lot in the past few months, my speed and court vision are much better now,” added Pei Jing.
In order to win the Commonwealth gold, the world number 48th pair would have to knock off England’s world No. 5 Chris Adcock-Gabrielle Adcock; world No. 10 Danny Bawa Chrisnanta-Vanessa Neo of Singapore; and world No. 13 Robert Blair-Imogen Bankier from Scotland.
“I am not worry about those pairs who has higher ranking than us. We will play our best, go out there and have fun. Have a blast. Hopefully we can win the gold for Malaysia,”
Besides Pei Jing and Peng Soon, Malaysia also features Tan Wee Kiong-Lim Yin Loo and Goh V Shem-Vivian Hoo in the mixed doubles event.
