Tan Kim Her brings new hope for India’s badminton doubles
New Delhi: Malaysia’s former men’s doubles chief coach Tan Kim Her who was appointed by Badminton Association of India (BAI) as their new doubles coach, has started making positive change for India’s doubles players.
The 44-year-old coach signed a five-year contract with BAI effective September, has already begun working with Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy (men’s doubles) and Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa (women’s doubles) to help them qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Mumbai: Buoyed by her victory with Jwala Gutta at the Canada Open, Ashwini Ponnappa is hopeful of another successful performance at the BWF World Championships, scheduled to begin in Jakarta on Monday. “Ideally, our target is to win a medal,” she said here on Tuesday after being felicitated by the Karnataka Badminton Association for that triumph in Calgary. “The Canada win and our performance in the US Open (semifinal defeat) will give us a huge boost.”
