Tan Kim Her brings new hope for India’s badminton doubles
New Delhi: Malaysia’s former men’s doubles chief coach Tan Kim Her who was appointed by Badminton Association of India (BAI) as their new doubles coach, has started making positive change for India’s doubles players.
The 44-year-old coach signed a five-year contract with BAI effective September, has already begun working with Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy (men’s doubles) and Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa (women’s doubles) to help them qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Indian Badminton League set to start in January

Nagpur: After a long wait and overcoming several hurdles, the second edition of the Indian Badminton League (IBL) will be held in January, 2016, according to Badminton Association of India (BAI) president Akhilesh Dasgupta on Saturday.
“Yes, the second edition of IBL will be held in January. I cannot announce the exact dates now but it will most probably held in the second and third week of January. We will announce all the details in a press conference soon,” said Dasgupta.

Mumbai: With a little more than a year left for the Rio Olympics, the Badminton Association of India’s (BAI) demand to hire a specialist doubles coach has been granted by the India sports ministry.
Malaysian Tan Kim Her has been roped in by the BAI till the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and will be on a salary of between $7,500 and $8,000 per month, according to Indian media.
