Kuala Lumpur: Daren Liew who was once ranked World No. 10 and was once regarded as the best player to lead the Malaysian team after Lee Chong Wei retires, played his last match under the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) set-up on Wednesday when he lost to Thailand’s veteran player Boonsak Ponsana in the first round of the Malaysia Masters 10-21, 15-21 in 34 minutes.
Tokyo: Wednesday afternoon Lee Chong Wei survived a tougher than expected fight from Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand by a 10-21, 21-15, 21-16 score line to advance to the second round of Japan Open.

Bangkok: Thailand’s badminton ace Boonsak Ponsana has withdrawn from next week’s world championships due to an ankle injury.
The 32-year-old shuttler said he was recovering well from the injury but it was too soon for him to return to action at the world championships to be held in Copenhagen from Aug 25-31.
