Hanoi: The Indonesian team has concluded their recent weekend by winning three titles at the 2019 Vietnam International Challenge. The first title came from an all-Indonesian match between World No. 56 Firman Abdul Kholik and World No. 66 Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, in which Kholik eventually defeated Wardoyo 21-16, 21-7 in the men’s singles final. Soo Teck Zhi scores upset at Indonesia International Challenge
East Java: Soo Teck Zhi marched into semi-finals at Indonesia International Challenge after pulling off one of the biggest upsets yet on the men’s side on Friday. The No. 7 seed, 20-year-old Malaysian defeated No. 1 Firman Abdul Kholik of Indonesia 13-21, 21-12, 21-13 in 78 minutes. This was Soo’s second career win over Kholik after he managed to beat the Indonesian at last year’s Malaysia Kuching International Challenge. In order to book a final berth, Soo will have to get past the Athens Olympic bronze medalist Sony Dwi Kuncoro on Saturday.

Bangkok: 15 year-old Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia continued the quest for her first girl’s singles title with an impressive 21-3, 21-4 win over Chan Kit Lei in the second round of Asia Junior Championship on Thursday. She needed just 16 minutes to ease past her opponent.

Bangkok: China wrapped up a 5-0 clean sweep over Korea to win their three straight Asia Junior mixed team championships on Wednesday. China defeated Korea 3-0 in 2013, and 3-0 in 2014. Playing with several returning players from last year’s squad such as Chen Qingchen and Zheng Siwei, China carved out one of the most sensational and memorable victories in their Asia Junior mixed team history by ending the final battle in only three straight matches.
