Hyderabad: Although the Indonesian men’s team has qualified for the Thomas Cup, they did not take Japan lightly in Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) final on Sunday. Both teams were neck and neck throughout the tie until Indonesia overcame Japan in an epic decisive fifth match to seal a 3-2 win.

Chan Peng Soon-Lai Pei Jing eight seeds in India Open
Kuala Lumpur: Chan Peng Soon-Lai Pei Jing upset world No. 19 and eight seeds Kenichi Hayakawa-Misaki Matsutomo 21-15, 8-21, 23-21 in the first round of India Open.
This is the best win in their short stint together, and could be their last ever tournament as a pair. Peng Soon is expected to pair with his previous partner Goh Liu Ying in the Singapore Open Superseries next week (April 8-13).

Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan win Indonesia’s 1st All England title after 11 years (pic)
With a lively contingent of Indonesian supporters cheering them on at a packed National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, England, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan finally ended Indonesia’s 11 year wait for a men’s doubles All England Super Series Premier title on Sunday.
The world number one pair claimed the trophy after defeating the world number two team of Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa from Japan in a tight two-set game 21-19, 21-19.
Indonesia last won the men’s doubles All England trophy was when veteran duo Sigit Budiarto/Chandra Wijaya clinched the title in 2003.
Finally… Malaysian pair are in the final (pic)
KUALA LUMPUR: Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah showed plenty of fire and resilience en route to becoming the first Malaysian men’s doubles pair to reach the final of the Maybank Malaysian Open since 2010.
The pair, back together for a third time after splitting up twice, were outstanding as they fought back from a game down to beat Indonesia’s Angga Pratama-Rian Agung Saputra.
The world No. 17, backed by a vociferous home crowd, won 23-25, 21-13, 22-20 in 72 minutes.
