Lin Dan joins torch relay for 2014 Youth Olympics
Nanjing: Two times Olympic gold medalist Lin Dan was one of the torch bearers for the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games. The Summer Youth Olympic Games is taking place from in Nanjing, China from 16 to 28 August and feature 3,800 young athletes. Lin Dan was very happy and excited as this was the first time he participated in such torch relay.

Taipei: Two time Olympic gold medalist Lin Dan was crowned men’s singles champion at the 2014 Taipei Open Badminton Championship that ended yesterday in Taipei arena. In addition to men’s singles, China also won mixed doubles champion through Liu Yuchen-Yu Xiaohan.

Taipei: Seventh seed Lin Dan survived a scare from Japan’s Riichi Takeshita before winning his Chinese Taipei Open semi-final match in three tight sets at Taipei on Saturday.
The Chinese, who are looking to move higher in BWF ranking through winning the Chinese Taipei Open title was stretched to the limit before prevailing 21-15, 14-21, and 21-18 in 65 minutes.

Australian Open: Super Dan wins
Sydney: Lin Dan won his first BWF Super Series title since March 2012 at the Australian Badminton Open in Sydney on Sunday.
Chinese player Lin Dan beat Indonesian Simon Santoso 22-24, 21-16, 21-7 in 75 minutes. Santoso was ahead for most of time in the first set. At one point, Lin managed to tie the game at 17-17, but Simon was able to stay calm to regain his composure, and eventually took the first game with 24-22.

Sydney: Concluding the day’s action on States Sports Centre in Sydney, Australia, two Malaysian pairs crashed out of the tournament leaving unseeded Malaysian pair Hoon Thien How-Tan Boon Heong the sole doubles survivor.
On Friday, Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong’s sensation run was ended by Lee Yong-dae-Yoo Yeon-seong of Korea. Goh/Tan lost their first set 21-15 to Lee-Yoo easily, but was able to give the Korean a run for their money before losing the second set 24-22.
