Beijing: Besides Zhao Yunlei, Tian Qing, Yu Yang, and Wang Yihan who had gone public with their retirement decisions after the Rio Olympics, in a move that has sent shock waves across badminton community, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirmed on Tuesday that Chinese Badminton Association has submitted the retirement applications for 26-year-old Wang Shixian, 22-year-old Tang Yuanting, and 26-year-old Wang Zhengming.

Jakarta: Men’s singles No. 2 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia kept his chances of an sixth title at Indonesia Open on track when he overpowered China’s Wang Zhengming in the first set of Indonesia Open quarter-final with 21-16 at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Friday.
The flawless Lee barely broke a sweat as he eased into the semi-finals after Wang Zhengming retired after suffering a hamstring injury while Lee was leading 9-2 in the second set.

Jakarta: Malaysia badminton superstar Lee Chong Wei edged closer to his sixth Indonesian Open title and the world number one ranking after moving into the quarterfinals in Jakarta today.

Jakarta: With the backing of home crowd, Indonesia’s unseeded Jonatan Christie pulled off a huge upset against China’s two time Olympic champion Lin Dan in the second round of the BCA Indonesia Open badminton championship at Bung Karno Indoor Stadium in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday.
Christie was ecstatic after clinching his second round match against his own idol 21-12, 21-12 in 36 minutes.

Paris: Former world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei reached his first French Open final in four years as he needed 36 minutes to fly by world No. 9 Wang Zhengming of China 21-7, 21-13 in the semi-finals.
The unseeded Lee, in remarkably sublime form at the age of 33, continued his formidable French Open run and never let up the pressure on No. 3 shuttler from the Chinese team in a semi-final demolition. The victory brought Lee’s head to head record against Wang to 15-0.
