Kuala Lumpur: With Lee Chong Wei officially withdrew from the XX Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2014, it’s time for the younger players such as Chong Wei Feng, Daren Liew to break out of the shadow of Lee Chong Wei.
Chong Wei Feng was tasked with winning the gold medal in the Myanmar Sea Games last year, but he let slip a chance for a golden debut in the SEA Games after losing 19-21, 12-21 to A. Kuala Lumpur: National Sports Institute (NSI) promised to provide the best treatment plan and care to the world number one Lee Chong Wei, to ensure he could return on time for the World Championships in Copenhagen in August and Incheon Asian Games in September.

Chong Wei Feng looking good for Commonwealth Games
Kuala Lumpur: Chong Wei Feng is optimistic he can spring a surprise at the Commonwealth Games after being picked for the Malaysia squad. If everything goes as planned, he will face off against world number one Lee Chong Wei in the men’s singles final.

P.V. Sindhu wants to surpass Saina Nehwal
New Delhi: Indian’s number two women’s singles P.V. Sindhu wanted to close the gap between her and the reigning Australian Open champion Saina Nehwal with a strong performance in upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Saina Nehwal who won women’s singles gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games also won bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics.
Chris Langridge of UK hopes for breakthrough at Glasgow 2014
London: Chris Langridge says winning a medal at the Commonwealth Games in the face of fierce opposition would be a great achievement.
The 29-year-old from Leatherhead will represent England in the team event, men’s doubles and mixed doubles.
“Badminton almost has it tougher than some other sports as we have Malaysia, Singapore and India who are very good nations,” he said.

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s mixed doubles specialist Chan Peng Soon believed he and Pei Jing got a shot at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games which will be held from July 23-Aug 3. It’s been a tough year for the duo, who has yet to win any international title since they started playing together.

Chan Peng Soon concerns about lack of chemistry
Kuala Lumpur: Mixed doubles specialist Chan Peng Soon said it is hard to produce good results if he and his partner, Lai Pei Jing don’t have the right chemistry to get it done.
BAM decided to pair 21-year-old Pei Jing with Peng Soon in Commonwealth Games squad after his longtime partner Goh Liu Ying underwent surgery on her knees last month. Koo Kien Keat- Chin Eei Hui defeated Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork of England 22-20, 21-12 to win the mixed doubles gold in the 2010 New Delhi Commonwelath Games.

Boon Heong excluded for the best interest of the team
Kuala Lumpur: After Tan Boon Heong’s hugely controversial omission from the Commonwealth Games squad, Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) deputy president Datuk Norza Zakaria explained the decision to leave Boon Heong off the roster was the right decision.
“We are can only send five men and five women to the Commonwealth games. From the Thomas Cup performance, Wee Kiong-V Shem are the best option for men’s doubles,” said Norza.

Chris and Gabby Adcock in England team at Glasgow 2014
London: Chris and Gabby Adcock are the first married couple to represent England at the Commonwealth Games.
Chris Adcock will also partner with Andrew Ellis in the men’s doubles event.
Rajiv Ouseph who won the silver medal in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi is the only men’s singles player in the England team.
