Genting: Kepong BC made a superb comeback on Saturday after trailing 0-1 at one point as they defeated strong contender Cheras BC 16-7 in the semi-finals of the Purple League Champions Challenge.
Nur Azriyn Ayup of Kepong suffered a 9-11, 11-7, 6-11, 4-11 defeat to 2003 All England Champion Mohd Hafiz Hashim of Cheras in the first men’s singles, allowing Cheras to open the tie with a 3-1 lead.

Kepong & Cheras on Purple League’s Champions Challenge semi-final collision
Genting: Petaling BC fought until the bitter end but eventually bowed out to Kepong BC 7-13 in the quarter-finals of the Purple League Champions Challenge on Friday.
World No. 19 Kenichi Tago got off to a good start for Petaling in the first men’s singles match edging past Ai Wei Jian of Kepong BC 11-10, 11-3, 11-6 in just 27 minutes. However, Ow Yao Han/Tan Boon Heong of Kepong returned the favor, making short work of the inexperienced Chen Jia Huo/Shia Chun Kang in the first men’s doubles match to level the score at 3-3.

Purple League: Puchong United survive Cheras scare
Kuala Lumpur: Puchong United BC hailed Cheras BC’s fighting spirit as they hung on for victory to secure a hard-fought 11-10 win on Friday.
World number 20th Tanongsak Saen Somboonsuk opened the tie against Muhammad Hafiz Hashim of Cheras in the first men’s singles match. Fittingly it was veteran Hafiz who clinched it for Cheras with his tricky net shots that forced a lot errors from the shuttler who came from Thailand. After nearly 48 minutes toe-to-toe combat, Tanongsak Saen Somboonsuk lost 7-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 9-11 to the 2003 All England champion.
