Jakarta: World number one Lee Chong Wei was knocked out of the Indonesia Open in the semi-finals on Saturday in a shock loss to fourth-seed Kenichi Tago of Japan.
The Malaysian could not keep up with Tago in the first game, making unforced errors and placing the shuttle wide of the sidelines.
“Tago played better and more aggressively today,” said Chong Wei.

Jakarta: In the first round of Indonesia Open, Mohd Arif Abdul Latif of Malaysia put up a brilliant all-around performance to upset Japan’s Thomas Cup hero, world number 11th Kento Momota 21-19, 21-13 in 34 minutes. His victory makes me wonder had Malaysia decided to bring Arif to New Delhi, and played him in the Thomas Cup final against Momota, Malaysia would have already brought back the Thomas Cup. Chong Wei will set up a mouth-watering clash with Kenichi Tago who is on a revenge mission, having whitewashed by Chong Wei in the Thomas Cup final last month.
