Amelia Alicia Anscelly/Soong Fie Cho, Saina Nehwal win India Masters

Lucknow: In an action-packed final day of Syed Modi India Masters, 27-year-old  Amelia Alicia Anscelly and 26-year-old Soong Fie Cho of Malaysia upset compatriot top seeds Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei 22-20, 21-15 to win their first title since the 2013,2014 Iran International Challenge.

Chong Wei Feng fizzles out, Peng Soon/Pei Jing march on

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian shuttler Chong Wei Feng sustained a hamstring injury at India Masters on Friday when the score was tied at 8-8 in the second set against top seed Kidambi Srikanth of India. Wei Feng won the first set at 21-17, lost in second set 12-21 while playing through the injury, before he gave Srikanth a walkover in the third set. Kidambi Srikanth will play H. S. Kidambi Srikanth: Staying in top-5 will be challenging

History beckoned Indian badminton as Kidambi Srikanth became the third Indian men’s singles shuttler to break into the top-5 in world rankings after the illustrious duo of Prakash Padukone (reached number one) and Pullea Gopichand (reached number four).

The 21-year-old Guntur boy scaled new heights in 2014, winning the China Open Superseries Premier beating Lin Dan in the final. Dubai: China’s World champion and tournament top seed Chen Long survived a scare against India’s Kidambi Srikanth tonight on his way to the men’s finals of the BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals.
