Chen Long beats Kidambi Srikanth to reach Hong Kong Open final
Hong Kong: Top seed China’s Chen Long prevented Kidambi Srikanth from becoming synonymous with ‘Chinese-killer’ by blasted past the Indian in three sets in the semifinals of the men’s singles event of the USD 350,000 Hong Kong Open on Saturday. Chen Long defeated Srikanth 21-17, 19-21, 21-6 in 64 minutes.
Chen Long who defeated K. Srikanth at the BWF World Championships in August and zoomed to a 10-3 lead early in the first set. Chen eventually moved to the game point with a mid-court smash and soon pocketed the opening game when Srikanth hit the nets again. Hong Kong Open: Carolina Marin, Chen Long advance to semis
Hong Kong: The fifth seed Carolina Marin of Spain, outclassed Tee Jing Yi in the women’s singles quarter-final at the Hong Kong Open, winning 21-8, 21-17 and move a step closer to the semi-final on Saturday.
Marin won the first set easily, but Tee was giving Marin a run for the money in the second set before conceded to a more aggressive Marin in 27 minutes.

Fuzhou: Kidambi Srikanth and Saina Nehwal shocked the host country China on Sunday by winning the China Open Super Series Premier tournament held in Fuzhou.
The 21-year-old and world number 16 Indian shuttler K. Srikanth who grew up idolizing the five-time world champion Lin Dan, defeated Lin 21-19 21-17 in the men’s singles final for his maiden Super Series title.

China Open: Lin Dan, K. Srikanth to meet in final
Fuzhou: Badminton super star Lin Dan continued his success on home soil as he saw off Taiwan’s Chou 21-17,21-17 in 49 minutes at the semi-final of China Open. The Taiwanese seemed a little tired against Lin after having fought off seventh-seeded Hu Yun from Hong Kong 21-18, 16-21, 21-17 in a marathon quarterfinal match that didn’t get started until 11:30 p.m. on Friday because of scheduling delays and lasted until 1 a.m. Saturday.
