Mumbai: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has finally managed to rope in the services of top doubles coach Tan Kim Her on Friday. The Malaysian was in the Capital of India to finalise his contract with the Sports Authority of India, and BAI president Akhilesh Das Gupta said that Tan Kim Her will join the Indian team by the end of September.

Mumbai: With a little more than a year left for the Rio Olympics, the Badminton Association of India’s (BAI) demand to hire a specialist doubles coach has been granted by the India sports ministry.
Malaysian Tan Kim Her has been roped in by the BAI till the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and will be on a salary of between $7,500 and $8,000 per month, according to Indian media.

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s double coach Tan Kim Her would like to speed up ripening process for the young shuttlers and to prepare them for the 11 x 5 new scoring system through night training routines.
Tan Kim Her is currently coaching Low Juan Shen-Nelson Heg Wei Keat, Chua Khek Wei-Chan Ren Cong, Mohd Amzzar Zainuddin-Ng Di Hua, Tai An Khang-Woon Mun Chun, Ong Yew Sin-Darren Issac, and Yew Hong Kheng-Tan Wee Gieen. Nelson Heg Wei Keat and his former partner Teo Ee Yi won the 2011 BWF World Junior Championships, while Yew Hong Kheng and Ow Yao Han (currently in the senior team) captured the 2010 World Junior Championships.

KUALA LUMPUR: On March 20, after Datuk Misbun Sidek turned down the Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM)'s offer to become the badminton supremo, they've decided that they started looking for a chief coach for both the singles and doubles departments.
BAM has appointed Rashid Sidek as the singles chief coach, and as an interim coach for the doubles department for the time being. Meanwhile, Tan Kim Her’s contract has been extended to oversee the men’s doubles back-up shuttlers.

KUALA LUMPUR: National coach Tan Kim Her will know his role in the national team soon.
Kim Her’s two-year contract ends this month but the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have yet to bind him with a new contract.
Asked about his status, former doubles chief coach Kim Her said: “I will leave it to BAM to deal with the matter. For now, I will just continue with my job as the coach.”

KUALA LUMPUR: When Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin took the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) leadership to task two days ago, many thought it would spark major changes in the national body.
There were changes, but nothing drastic or radical.
Probably, the one good talking point that came out of the two-hour council meeting on Saturday was a decision to appoint an expert to handle the coaching and training committee, which will now be known as the Capabilities, Skills and Research (CSR) committee. 
The role of this expert could be similar to that of national coaching director and one name that keeps popping up as a possible candidate is that of Denmark’s Morten Frost.
The other decision taken was to relieve BAM president Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff of his additional roles.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former international Razif Sidek will not act as an assessor for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) unless he is given an official letter of appointment.
As of Monday, Razif still had not received any official appointment letter from BAM’s president Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff although he had requested for it several times.
Last year, Razif was brought in as an assessor in September and given several roles. He was to assess the national players and coaches, and he was even sent as team manager to the Denmark Open in Odense in October.
