Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s badminton super star Lee Chong Wei has expressed his concerns that coaches at Badminton Association of Badminton were left uncertain as they still unsure whether or not they will have a new contract in 2015.
BAM’s chief coach Rashid Sidek, men’s singles coach Tey Seu Bock, men’s doubles coach Pang Cheh Chang and women’s doubles coach Rosman Razak are among those whose contracts already expired on Dec 31.

Incheon: After a four years title drought, Malaysia’s men’s doubles ace Tan Boon Heong was hoping to explode back onto the badminton scene with this new permanent partner Hoon Thien How in the Asian Games. However, a left thigh injury he sustained during a training session in Kuala Lumpur could hamper his chances at claiming his second Asian Games gold medal.
“I can feel the pain, but I did not talk to doctors at National Sports Institute (NSI), therefore, I don’t know how serious the injury is. I hope it is not going to be a problem,” said Boon Heong.

Kuala Lumpur: National doubles coach Pang Cheh Chang has finally acknowledged that there will be some reshuffling in the men’s doubles department after the World Championship.
Kuala Lumpur: Men’s doubles coach of Malaysia Pang Cheh Chang is making the big move to nurture three strong men’s doubles for a shot at Olympic gold medal.
“Malaysia has always been relying on only one pair, while other countries such as Indonesia, China, and Korea have more than one strong pairs. We should not put all eggs in one basket, like we did in 2012 Olympics, where the country put too much pressure and hope on Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, they failed to deliver under too much pressure eventually,” said Cheh Chang.

Kuala Lumpur: Although they were temporarily paired up during the Thomas Cup Finals, but the pair of Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong have shown a strong potential for becoming the best men’s doubles pair in the world. The pair played their first game in the Thomas Cup Finals against Akshay Dewalkar-Pranaav Jerry Chopra of India by winning 21-17 14-21 21-14; They then defeated world number four Kim Sa Rang-Kim Ki Jung 21-17 21-19 in the last game of Group C. They tamed Carsten Mogensen – Joachim Fischer Nielsen of Denmark 21-19, 21-13, and came to the rescue to level the tie at 2-2 when they defeated Keigo Sonoda – Takeshi Kamura 19-21, 21-17, 21-12 in the Thomas Cup final. Their stayed calm under pressure and they were confident in launching attacks against their opponents.
KUALA LUMPUR: National coach Tan Kim Her will know his role in the national team soon.
Kim Her’s two-year contract ends this month but the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have yet to bind him with a new contract.
Asked about his status, former doubles chief coach Kim Her said: “I will leave it to BAM to deal with the matter. For now, I will just continue with my job as the coach.”

KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s latest badminton darlings – the men’s doubles of Lim Khim Wah-Goh V Shem – have moved up three rungs to No. 14 in the world after their breakthrough performance in the Malaysian Open last week.
And, if they can maintain their performances in the next three months, they could even become the country’s top pair before the Thomas Cup Finals in May.
On Thursday, they were the only men’s pair to have shown an improvement in the world rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
The other two pairs – Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong – remained at No. 7 and No. 8 respectively after losing in the opening round of the home tournament.
