Singapore: 27-year-old Derek Wong of Singapore is hanging up his racket at the end of September.
The Singapore’s top men’s singles shuttler told reporters that he had turned in his resignation letter to the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) after the Rio Olympics. After his resignation, he will be joining the consulting firm Deloitte on Sept 26.
Singapore: Singapore shuttler Ronald Susilo was best known for defeating Lin Dan at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and he has returned to badminton last May in a bid to compete in the 2015 Singapore SEA Games. However, his dream was shattered after he was forced to withdraw from the Singapore team after suffering a muscle tear in his hip.

The love story of Singapore badminton players Derek Wong, 25, and Vanessa Neo, 27, nearly did not happen when Wong was rejected the first time.
Neo, who left Raffles Junior College to join the national squad in 2004, said: “I’m older and I wasn’t sure if I could accept someone younger. I was afraid of what others might say.”

Glasgow: In a thrilling third place play-off, Singapore clinched the bronze medal in the badminton mixed team event with a 3-2 win over India at The Emirates Arena.
In the opening match, mixed doubles pair of Vanessa Neo and Danny Chrisnanta fought hard before winning 21-19-, 21-19 over R.M.V Gurusaidutt and Ashwini Ponnappa of India to hand Singapore an early 1-0 lead.
