Copenhagen: There wasn’t much drama for Malaysian shuttlers at the opening day of the World Championships in Copenhagen.
World number one Lee Chong Wei began his quest for the World Championships title with a dominant performance in the first round. It was his first tournament in two months, after losing to Kenichi Tago of Japan 16-21, 21-15, 16-21 at the semi-final of Indonesia Open last June.

Kuala Lumpur: Despite gradual progress towards stabilization and better results, Malaysia’s mixed doubles coach Jeremy Gan has decided to split up the partnership of Chan Peng Soon and Lai Pei Jing as he is planning to form two strong mixed doubles pairs for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Glasgow: On Saturday, Malaysia’s Tee Jing Yi was defeated by Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland 13-21, 19-21 in the semi-finals at the Emirates Arena. Jing Yi inexplicably squandered a big 19-11 lead in the second game allowing Gilmour to come back to win game two.
“Kirsty came well prepared, I made some unnecessary mistakes in second set and just couldn’t finish the game,” said the disappointed Jing Yi. In last week’s mixed team event, Jing Yi was able to down Gilmour in straight sets.

Glasgow: Malaysia’s hope to defend the Commonwealth Games men’s singles title took a hit on Friday when Chong Wei Feng and Daren Liew both lost to their Indian opponents respectively.
The 2012 French Open champion Daren Liew suffered his round of 8 loss to world number 22 Parupalli Kashyap of India 13-21, 14-21 in a match that lasted 38 minutes; while Chong Wei Feng managed to stay afloat to force a deciding game, he struggled against the 24 year-old R. M. V. Gurusaidutt of India the entire third set and eventually lost to the Indian 15-21, 21-8, 17-21.

Glasgow: Defending champions Malaysia suffered a scare before downing hosts Scotland to progress to the semi-final of the Commonwealth Games badminton mixed team event.
Chan Peng Soon and Lai Pei Jing were beaten in the opening rubber of the knockout stages by mixed doubles pairing by Robert Blair and Imogen Bankier 22-24, 21-9, 21-11 in a match lasting 64 minutes.
Glasgow: The days of living in the shadow of being compared to Goh Liu Ying are about to end for Lai Pei Jing.
The 22-year-old had been associated with Goh Liu Ying since she started partnering Chan Peng Soon. Chan Peng Soon’s longtime partner, Goh Liu Ying has decided to undergo a career saving knee surgery on May 20th this year.

BAM decided to pair 21-year-old Pei Jing with Peng Soon in Commonwealth Games squad after his longtime partner Goh Liu Ying underwent surgery on her knees last month. Koo Kien Keat- Chin Eei Hui defeated Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork of England 22-20, 21-12 to win the mixed doubles gold in the 2010 New Delhi Commonwelath Games.
