Glasgow: Malaysia’s hope to defend the Commonwealth Games men’s singles title took a hit on Friday when Chong Wei Feng and Daren Liew both lost to their Indian opponents respectively.
The 2012 French Open champion Daren Liew suffered his round of 8 loss to world number 22 Parupalli Kashyap of India 13-21, 14-21 in a match that lasted 38 minutes; while Chong Wei Feng managed to stay afloat to force a deciding game, he struggled against the 24 year-old R. M. V. Gurusaidutt of India the entire third set and eventually lost to the Indian 15-21, 21-8, 17-21.

Glasgow 2014: Goh V Shem-Lim Yin Loo falters, other Malaysian advance
Glasgow: The mixed doubles scratch pair of Goh V Shem-Lim Yin Loo was the only Malaysian that didn’t make it to the round of 16 at Commonwealth Games’ individual badminton events on Wednesday. They suffered a hard-fought, 21-15, 14-21, 14-21 loss to world number 13 Robert Blair and Imogen Bankier of Scotland in 58 minutes. Blair-Bankier will play Terry Hee-Fu Mingtian of Singapore tomorrow.

5-time World Champion and 2 time Olympic gold medalist, Lin Dan faced some resistance in China Masters Badminton Open quarter-final but still managed to bulldoze his way through the threats posed by Derek Wong from Singapore.
Lin Dan got off a good start in the first set by leading Derek 4-1 but Derek started launching his attacks to tie the score at 5-5 and was able to snatch 3 more consecutive points. The tournament’s superstars showed no fear and showcased his spectacular drop shots, and cross court smashing to catch back up to Derek at 10-10, and then went on to seal the first set with 21-16.

PASIR GUDANG: Shuttlers Lim Khim Wah and Goh V Shem are the only survivors for Malaysia in the Malaysian Open Grand Prix Gold tournament after Chong Wei Feng's walkover to Sourabh from India, and Lim Yin Loo-Lee Meng Yean's loss of 17-21, 17-21 to China’s juniors Ou Dongni-Xiong Mengjing in the semi-finals.
Lim Khim Wah-Goh V Shem's opponents in the final will be another top form pair from Singapore – Danny Bawa Chrisnanta-Chayut Triyachart.
The duo will have to play better and harder in the final in order to pull off the champion feat.

PASIR GUDANG: Lee Meng Yean-Lim Yin Loo are fourth-ranked women’s doubles for Malaysia. No one expected them to go too far in the Malaysia Open GP, but they've demonstrated their fighting spirit yesterday by defeating third seeds Shinta Mulia Sari-Yao Lei (world No. 20) of Singapore 21-17, 22-20 to reach the semi-finals of the Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold at the Pasir Gudang Municipal Stadium.
This performance could further strengthen their bid for a place in the Uber Cup Finals squad. They will play against they will take on Ou Dongni-Xiong Mengjing of China in the semi-finals.
